The U.S. Census Bureau defines intergovernmental revenue as, "amounts received from other governments as fiscal aid in the form of shared revenues and grants-in-aid, as reimbursements for performance of general government functions and specific services for the paying government (e.g., care of prisoners or contractual research), or in lieu of taxes, Excludes amounts received from other governments for sale of property, commodities, and utility services. All intergovernmental revenue is classified as General revenue."
Intergovernmental Revenue Per Capita is the total intergovernmental revenue divided by the U.S. Census Bureau population of the state. The U.S. Census Bureau Population Bureau estimates are from U.S. Census Bureau, Population Division, Table: PEPANNRES - Annual Estimates of the Resident Population: April 1, 2010 to July 1, 2019.
Intergovernmental Revenue Ranking ranks the states from 1-50 with 1 being the highest amount of intergovernmental revenue and 50 being the lowest amount of intergovernmental revenue.
For analytical purposes, this data point has been indexed to 2005. Accordingly, 2005 = 1, and any value greater than one indicates growth, while any value less than one indicates decline.
