The United States Census Bureau conducts an ongoing survey called the American Community Survey, which collects information regarding the United States population for different age groups in the 50 states, counties, cities, and towns throughout the country. Data from the American Community Survey were aggregated from 13 separate age groups into five age groups: 1-19, 20-34, 35-54, 55-74, and 75 and older.
These age groups correspond roughly to the current living generations with 1-19 corresponding to Gen Z; 20-34 corresponding to Millennials; 35-55 corresponding to Gen X, 55-74 corresponding to the Boomers; and 75 and older corresponding to the Silent and Greatest generations.
