Sales tax collections per capita is the average amount of sales tax the state receives for each resident. Information regarding General Sales Tax and Selective Sales Tax can be obtained from the Annual Survey of State Government Finances of the U.S. Census Bureau. The sum of both the general sales tax as well as selective sales taxes is divided by the state's population to obtain the final value.
